Now we will tell you what they are. And we will also tell you how to fix or avoid them. Read on!

The 5 most common mistakes while walking our dog

Sometimes you will think that it is enough for your dog to accompany you to take out the garbage and then go straight home. The truth is that walking a dog is much more than that, as it must be a moment of relaxation and well-being for him.

For this reason, take the time to walk your furry friend and don’t make the following mistakes:

Don’t let it sniff here and there

It makes sense that when you see your dog sniffing at other dogs’ pee on the ground you are disturbed, and you don’t want him to. However, you have to think that this is their way of communicating.

Furthermore, it has  two important benefits. It allows him to relax and relieve stress, and to get to know the environment around him.

It goes without saying that to avoid worries, your dog must have been properly vaccinated and you must have put pesticides on him. This way you will know that letting him sniff around won’t cause him any problems.

Pull the leash when the dog does the same

Tugging on the leash won’t teach your dog anything. On the contrary, you could make him stressed and that could hurt him.

If your dog pulls on the leash, your best bet is to buy a non-pull one.

Shout at him while he is bumping into another dog

Shouting and physical abuse do not help educate dogs. If you find yourself in the middle of an argument that your dog is also involved in, the best thing is to get away as soon as possible.

If your dog is the first to attack others, take him to a trainer.

Always use positive reinforcement. Also, if you scream and hit him during the fight, it will make him even more nervous and you may even get bitten.

Don’t let him get close to other dogs

Socialization is very important for dogs,  and for all pets in general. Therefore, if you find yourself on the street or in the park, you need to let your dog get close to his peers and other people in order for him to socialize and have a friendly disposition.

As is normal, it could be difficult, it is possible that fights with other dogs may arise, but do not give up. With patience you will get good results, always if you and your friend cooperate.

Very short or very long walks

As we said before, walking it for a few minutes is not good for your pet. The same thing happens with too long walks. A nervous dog will need more time, an older dog less.

Don’t make these mistakes and both of you will enjoy your walks together.
