A shelter for disabled dogs opened in Peru

We like to give you good news, especially when it is not very popular. This is a love story for animals that has never been revealed so far. Now we will tell you and we hope you will spread the word. Let’s talk about a shelter for disabled dogs.

This refuge is called “Milagros Perrunos” and is mainly dedicated to helping and improving the life of those animals who, either due to mistreatment or due to an accident, were about to lose it.

How do they do it? Here are some more details on this wonderful initiative.

What the volunteers do in this shelter is save the dogs. They provide them with the medical and emotional care they need and seek a home where they are truly loved and can have the life they deserve.

However, for those who are more difficult to adopt, the shelter is willing to keep them. He takes care of them.

Dogs with disabilities are unlikely to survive. Those who live on the street are unfortunately condemned to death. They do not have the necessary means to be able to move. And they obviously can’t get their own food and water.

While it’s not a dog’s dream to live in a shelter forever, the centre’s employees show them all the love they need. There is always a generous soul willing to adopt one.

This disabled dog shelter is located in Lima, Peru. There are already 39 “special” dogs living in the shelter. Some are paraplegic or have been mutilated.

Who created the shelter for disabled dogs?

Although it seems incredible, this initiative started with only one person, Sara Morán. The woman explained in detail why she did this. These are his words:

“From an early age my passion for animals was stronger than anything else. I have always had strong feelings for them. I can compare them to the ones for children (which I love). I consider animals to be eternal children, defenseless and innocent, without rights in this society. One day my dog Oso was poisoned, and I think that’s where it all started. In my family pets were banned… so I grew up ”.

According to Sara, it  all started when she met Ana María Guerrero. It was she who gave her the opportunity to collaborate in door-to-door sterilization campaigns  and to help the animals most in need.

When their collaboration ended in 2007, Sara continued independently until she created the “Milagros Perrunos” refuge. But Sara is not alone. She has with her a group of animal-loving people who provide him with both the necessities of life and emotional support.

The life of these dogs has changed a lot in this shelter. They go to the beach, they get love and care and their disabilities seem to be gone, because they are happy and have everything they need. Only those who have no heart can blame animals for this condition.

We are pleased to know that there are still people with a big and sincere heart who wish to help the most unfortunate. We hope that Sara Morán’s example will be of help to the willing who do not know where to start. This story teaches us how a solitary project with noble ends always goes forward in one way or another, because it has a superior force that guides it: love.
